I was recently accepted to an ABSN program and ADN program here in SoCal, and I’m honestly stuck trying to decide which route to take. The ABSN is about 21 months and costs around $47k. The ADN program is about 2 years and under $10k total, which is a huge difference financially.
My main concern is job prospects after graduation. I’ve heard that it can be harder to get hired with just an ADN and no prior experience, particularly in California.
For those of you who have already gone through this (or are currently in either program), what would you choose if you were in my position?
- Did having a BSN/ABSN actually make a big difference in getting hired?
- If you went the ADN route, how hard was it to land your first job?
- Looking back, was the extra cost of ABSN worth it?
I’d really appreciate any insight, especially from people in SoCal. Thank you!
