Nervous Greyhound
Hi, I'm looking for some advice, please. My husband and I have two sister greyhounds, nearly 5 years old, rehomed after their racing days. We've had them for 6 months, and they have mostly settled. They love us, and we love them. Our only issue is that one of them is quite a nervous girl. She hides whenever anyone comes to our house or even in the garden. She jumps at every sound and won't walk past us; we have to pretend not to notice if she does. She won't eat in front of us or even drink, though she loves cuddles and affection and shows us excitement when we arrive home or in the mornings. So, we know it's not us. What should we do? She could never be looked after by anyone or go to kennels if we wanted a holiday; she would be petrified. Is there anything we should be doing to help her? One thing is she ran 80 races in two years—she must have been really scared on that track. Is that too excessive to race in such a short period?
