Latin Honors Venting
Graduated and found out Latin Honors were determined by the lower of SJSU cumulative GPA and All College GPA.
Overall GPA is 3.84, but because SJSU GPA is 3.49, I don’t qualify for any honors at all since both GPAs have to meet the same threshold.
I literally felt gutted so bad during the ceremony, learning the fact and thinking about all the sleepless nights and grinding hours for the whole time working on this CMPE program. This policy feels unfair, especially for transfer students or students whose overall academic performance is much stronger than their SJSU GPA. It feels weird that one GPA can completely override the other, even when your combined is honors-level.
P/s: understand that it's just grades, it's not important at all after finishing the degree, tho I just wanted my hard work to be recognized and to be able to share that moment with my family during the ceremony
