How do you decide what to learn next?

How do you decide what to study next?

I've been doing olympiad prep mostly on my own and I keep hitting this weird wall — not with the math itself, but with figuring out what I should actually be doing on any given day. Like, I'll finish a chapter or a problem set and then just... stare at my shelf. Do I push harder on the topic I'm weakest at? Move on? Try harder problems on what I just learned? Go back to fundamentals?

I end up wasting a lot of time second-guessing the plan instead of just working.

Curious how other people handle this. Do you follow a specific syllabus or book order? Did a coach/mentor map it out? Are you just vibing it? Has anyone found something that actually works for knowing when you're ready to level up vs. when you need more reps?
