England - dispute over end of tenancy end date with landlord

Hello,

Currently in a dispute with my landlord over my end date for the tenancy. I started renting on a fixed contract in January 2025, which turned into a periodic rolling contract in January 2026. The right to rent came in, in May 2026.

The dispute is that my original fixed contract states one month notice before the next rent payment while my landlord is arguing that I need to give two months notice now the right to rent passed. He does not want to allow a shorter notice, even if I find someone within the next month and would like to charge me a £350 reference fee for the new tenant to come in early (ridiculous really).

I have added a photo of my contract which states that at the end of tenancy agreement, one month notice is needed at the end of OR after the end of the initial term. I am reading this to include the periodic rolling contract too. Please can the wording be reviewed to see who is correct?

How to move forward with a job offer while off sick from current work place

Hi all,

I have been off sick with chronic neck pain from work. I have had neck pain on and off for 6 months, I informed my manager about this and asked them to update the equipment in the office to ergonomic desks and chairs. Despite me repeatedly complaining of neck pain while in the office. It came to a head 4 weeks ago when I my neck locked after being in the office. I went to see a doctor and they signed me off for 4 weeks to recover. During this time I applied for a job, one with less desk work too and I have been offered the job via email (not signed a contract yet). I know the new place will probably do medical checks or ask for a reference from the current place etc, but I want to know how best to handle the situation and talk to the job recruiter about this. I feel well enough to go back to work and work at a desk for some hours of the day, I am aware of my triggers and physiotherapy has been going well. But the increased time away from the desk will be very helpful in maintaining all my recovery.
