Are there any book recs where the MMC has schemed Count of Monte Cristo style to enact revenge on the FMC? Maybe she did something abhorrent or maybe he misinterpreted the whole thing, but he's really been stewing.

Then when his revenge is going according to plan he inconveniently falls in love - or maybe he's been in love/obsession this whole time but just lying to himself.

He's filled with regret and must make it up to the FMC.

Any genre but spice, angst and longing a must.
