My A1C finally moved in the right direction

Got my latest A1C back and it went from 9.1 to 6.8.

Honestly I didn't expect that much of a drop.

The biggest changes were pretty boring. I stopped drinking regular soda, cut way back on random snacking at night, started walking most days and lost about 25 lbs over the last few months. I'm also taking the meds my doctor prescribed.

I still eat carbs. I still have bad days. I definitely haven't figured this whole thing out lol.

But seeing 6.8 after seeing 9.1 was kind of crazy.

For people who have gotten their A1C down a lot, what was the biggest thing that actually made a difference for you? Diet, weight loss, exercise, meds, CGM, or some combination?

Has anyone actually gotten their A1C back down?

Got my A1C checked recently and it came back at 6.0.

Kinda threw me off because I've already been trying to eat better and exercise more. I guess I assumed if I was doing those things the number would move pretty quickly.

For people who were in the 5.7–6.4 range, how long did it take before you actually saw a noticeable change?

And was there one thing that seemed to make a bigger difference than everything else?

Just trying to get a realistic idea of what other people's experience has been.
