Yard sale season is here — built a free app that maps every sale around Portland
Yard sale season is picking up around Portland and I wanted to share something I've been working on that might be useful to people in the area.
I built a free app called YardHop that puts yard sales on a live map. Instead of driving around hoping to spot signs on Hawthorne or cruising through Sellwood guessing where sales are, you can just open the app and see everything happening near you. Sellers can list their items with photos and prices so you know what's worth the drive before you head out.
I'm based right across the river in Vancouver. It just launched on the App Store a few days ago so it's still early — the more locals who hop on, the more useful it gets for everyone. If you're hosting a sale this summer, listing it takes about 2 minutes and gets you way more foot traffic than a sign on the corner.
Currently on iPhone only, Android is in the works.
