One of these things is not like the other

Just finished up my first flashlight mod! Don't mind my atrocious soldering lol.

I decided to take one of the Harbor Freight freebie lights and give it a couple upgrades:

  • Convoy 20mm 3V 20A BUCK driver
  • 6000k NV1010 LED on a 20mm MCPCB
  • Vapcell M11 v2.0 18350
  • Convoy Ar-coated glass lens
  • 1288 switch with 15.8mm PCB and a spring bypass

All inside a custom chassis I machined on my lathe.

The head is machined out of C145 copper in one solid piece (no pill/spacer), so the NV1010 is attached directly to a solid 75 gram chunk of copper giving this little pocket rocket surprisingly good thermals.

The battery tube is machined out of 6061 Aluminum, and the mule gasket is 3D printed in transparent PETG (inspired by u/Due_Tank_6976 's design).

The comparison beam shots for the stock and modded lights were both taken with identical settings to give a fair comparison (WB 5000k, 1/20s exposure, ISO 3200). The shed in the picture is about 50 feet away.

I have a few more mods on the way. The next one will be basically the same as this one, but with some QOL improvements, a quad 3535 MCPCB and a Carclo 106xx optic.

I hope y'all like this one!
