Airlayer to remove graft

Oh boy here we go.

I got this Acer palmatum 'mikawa yatsubus'

A few weeks ago now, but it was grafted.

So I decided to do an air layer the tree so I can have a uniform trunk.

A little scary on this one. Hopefully it takes and I have some nice roots in 9 weeks or so, so she can be repotted🤞

Finally made a bonsai bench

Some scrap cinder blocks and wood planks laying around.

Used a torch the darken the wood and I think it turned out pretty well overall

Found this Mikawa yatsubusa in a plant shop today

Looking for indoor plants and stumbled upon this in the outdoor section and could not pass it up, i think it has pretty good potential!
