S19 Appreciation
Watched the finale in theaters and it was incredible. No spoilers btw. I just want to say that this sub has mostly focused on praising the game design, and rightfully so. But it also matters how the game is played.
Baseball has been around for 150 years and hasn’t changed much, so I’d call that pretty good game design. But not every game is an 18 inning battle in the World Series like we got last fall. Every time the game is played will turn out differently, and some will turn out more entertaining than others.
My point is, if you and your buddies played Japanorama it wouldn’t be as good. If the boys played this season again 100 times it might never top the season we actually got. If you haven’t seen the finale yet, enjoy. Take it all in because we truly witnessed a masterpiece this time.
Edit: I have baseball on the mind bc of the playoffs but maybe a more helpful analogy would be to compare this season to the 2016 NBA finals. There were a lot of Warriors-Cavs series, but that one will always be the most legendary.
