Is anyone else disappointed by the state of the “underground”
It kind of feels like the scene is past its prime. I’m not really into rage and it feels like that’s all anyone makes anymore. Obviously there are exceptions the new shine album was good, joeyy tape was decent except for the last song, and like drain gang is still going strong (although i wouldn’t call them ug anymore) but it feels like the scene is becoming pretty stagnant. It also doesn’t feel “underground” anymore really, big labels seem to have discovered it and are starting to creep more and more into the cave. idk my thoughts are pretty disjointed on this but i miss when the underground felt more special and even more “online”. Rcb felt very unique and interesting with its internet and anime based aesthetic but now everyone is just a variation of carti or the opium aesthetic essentially. The only person i can think of that rlly has that classic feel is fakemink and ngl his new shit just isn’t as good either so far. i’m sure part of it is just age but idk im starting to feel pretty jaded. The last time an artist really wowed me was either yabujin or xavier and i got into both like 4-5 years ago atp. It just feels like the entire scene got gentrified for lack of a better word. I’m so sick of rage bro
