We got an offer for our child to do a temporary school exchange in Japan. The years I lived in Japan were a great time but what I am seeing on the internet out of Japan recently makes me worried for our child’s safety if they do this. We will accompany but we don’t police the school time or anything crazy like that.

I have not been back in over ten years. So my impression is only from a distance.

Is the internet a weird hate echo chamber or has Japanese society become truly hate-filled towards all minorities? The point is for our child to have a great experience. So if it’s not going to be fun I will find them another country to exchange with in the future.
