What Should I Do

Hi all,

So basically have the worst student I’ve ever had. She doesn’t want to be here. On her first call to our team she basically complained how unfair it is that uni had put her placement as community and it’s difficult for her to travel to different bases.

I had booked her onto training (this is important) which she reached out to uni to cancel as she couldn’t travel to training office. My team lead heard this & it was all escalated through proper channels & we had a meeting with uni and placement support. I chalked it up to her age (19) & then decided we’ll move on.

On Friday she spent the morning with me. I sent her home midday as I had clinical activities which she couldn’t participate in as hadn’t completed the above training. She email practice placement team stating I sent her home early.

This escalated to our matron and I basically got in trouble for sending a student home early. I’m not going to see her until Tuesday. What shall I do, address it or just leave it.

This has made me so angry as I have been so patient with her, meeting her at community bases out of my way, taking her to visits in my car, etc. I’ve only qualified myself 2 years ago so know the struggle of being a student but I’m going to be so petty now.

Best believe I’m timing all her breaks, never meeting her at the closest base to her, which I used to go out my way for. She’s never leaving early again for the rest of this placement (3 months) & if she’s a minute late this is being reported to uni. I was flexible on some of her proficiency’s being a LD placement so as long as she explained I would’ve signed off but that’s not happening now. So I know she will have so many outstanding things to sign off at the end of this placement.

Sorry just had to get this all off but is this me being too petty.
