Relocating to Korea on Salary Cut
I have received the opportunity to permanently transfer to the Korean office at my company with a big salary cut. I have frequently visited Korea, and it's definitely somewhere that I would love to live in. I was approved for to transfer and work out of the Seoul office, however my salary would be around $90,000 CAD a huge cut... nearly halving from $170,000 CAD that I am currently making in Canada. My company would provide housing subsidies for the first year (including a relocation allowance) plus a driver for my daily commutes. I am going to be living alone and if I were to permanently relocate, I would love to eventually purchase a home there, comfortably settle in, and eventually retire within the next 20-25 years. Is this salary livable in Seoul and would I be able to save up and have leftovers to travel around in a very general lifestyle? While money isn't surely everything, with economic uncertainties constantly on the back of everyone's mind, and trying to find financial stability in a completly new country, I have lot's of worries that is in the way of making my decision.
