It was a goddamn infuriating read and a big eff-up of the arranged marriage trope. I thought the first establishing chapters were promising but it just quickly went downhill after that.

The MMC, Hunter, was an immature manchild. His words, his personality—everything!!! BLEGH!!!

The FMC, Grace, started out so strong with her wanting to get out of the engagement after being ignored for years and years by going to London to find another man to marry. But unfortunately, with every passing chapter, her brain cells started dropping like flies. For one, how the hell do you expect to find an alternate candidate for a husband when you keep associating with Hunter’s stupid friends?! When you want to avoid a wolf, maybe don’t linger around the den!

The wives of his social club buddies have already proven themselves untrustworthy from the get-go when they kept setting up “coincidental” meetings with the asshole because OH HE’S REALLY A GOOD PERSON EVEN IF HE IGNORED YOU FOR YEARS AND SLEPT WITH OTHER WOMEN AND NEVER ONCE SPOKEN YOUR NAME BUT ONCE YOU GET TO KNOW HIM, YOU’LL LOVE HIM! PROMISE!! :)) YOU JUST NEED TO GIVE HIM A CHANCE!!

He already had way too many chances! Why should she be the one to bend??? SERIOUSLY!! You’d think Grace would just tell them to shove off but nooo. For some reason, they’re the only people to exist in the whole of society. 🙄 No one respects her feelings at all!

One of the friends, Regan, pmo so bad because she claimed to be a girl’s girl and is on Grace’s side but NAH in the end, she’s just a pick-me who helps with Grace’s abduction to Gretna Green, but had she known drugging would be involved, she never would have!! :((

Yeah, F*CK YOU. You and the whole gang of STDouchebags can eat dirt.

There was no romance. NADA!! No courtship. No redemption or grovel. Also, the ending was so abrupt, you question if the author finally woke up and realized she was writing hot garbage and didn’t bother anymore.

So save yourself the trouble!! Do not fall for the promising and interesting synopsis, WASTE OF YOUR TIME!!

I’ve been itching for something in the vein of the FMC being head over heels in love with MMC at the start, but like how it is in most cases (idiocy), he hurts the FMC really badly and she becomes SO disillusioned and hurt that she’s just “meh” about him and his touch no longer turns her on or she feels distant with acts of affection, including sex, like she’s just painting watercolors in her head when intimate or like “damn, here :|” when he wants affection. No butterflies, no body betrayal (at least not until the latter part of the story). INDIFFERENCE is the vibe, because anger is a piece of cake stacked against it. I want the regretful MMC to feel her disinterest to his very bone and desperately wanting to set things right with her.
