Just need a place to vent, feels like the ump kind of robbed my kid of his moment.

10u travel double header on mothers day. Did a big thing for all the moms, set up a spread, mimosas, etc. Nice day.

My son is 9, but his birthday is real close to the cutoff, so he plays up to 10u with his friends. His second year on this team.

He hits a ball to right field, and due to some errors by the other team, and his general speed, they wave him all the way around. It's going to be his first home run, and in front of mom on mother's day.

Catcher tries for the tag but drops the ball. The ump calls the runner safe, but the other team's coach starts screaming at his catcher to tag the runner for some reason. He does, and the ump calls an out. Interrupts the celebration to say my son didnt touch the plate, and so is out on the tag.

We were ahead by 4 runs, went on to win the game (and the second one, too), so it didn't alter the course of things in any meaningful way. But my son knew he touched the plate, we all knew he touched the plate, and even though I had the video, play moved on, my sons coach chose not to press it (keep the game moving, we were ahead, etc)

The ump has a tough job, and he was alone today; and I actually like this ump. He officiated a couple of our games last season, and since I do GC, we chatted. Super nice guy, great with the kids.

This was an in the park HR in a 10u game very much due to a lot of fumbles- obviously not something making sports center. This kid loves this game and Im sure he'll have others, better ones even. Still... I can't help but feel like this is a moment/memory my son could have had, and it was kind of ruined, and I just needed to vent somewhere.
