Help me figure out what weird German feminist film I watched in 2013….
So in 2013 I was in a college class where we watched a German (at least I’m *pretty* sure it was German…) feminist film that has haunted my mind for over the last decade trying to figure out what the fuck it was….
Here’s everything I can remember about the film:
It is centered around a matriarchal family that live in the country side. I wanna say set somewhere between the 50s-70s, but the film stretches multiple generations. There were very few men in the film overall, but there’s a hilarious sequence when one of the younger women decides she wants a baby and finds someone to sleep with in the nearby town, then does hand-stands after sex to help ensure it takes.
I think one of the main older women was also a professor.
I just remember the film dealing with a lot of grieving and this idea of willful rejection of the “norm”…
Ok. I know it’s not a lot to go off and it’s a long shot but I thought I’d finally put it out there and see if the internet can help me solve this mystery. Thanks in advance!
