Inexpensive Brandy Suggestion

Inexpensive Brandy Suggestion

I got my hands on some Hood strawberries and I’m looking to lengthen the good times by making a liqueur with them. I just read “Bar Chef” by Christiaan Rolich, and his recipe calls for “inexpensive brandy” but doesn’t specify. What would y’all use?

1.5 oz Crater Lake Tea Infused Gin
.75 oz Blanc Vermouth
4 dashes peach bitters

I work at a Southern restaurant with an Otter theme and was trusted with creating the bar program. This one started as a pun (I really wanted a “Deep Purple” smoked cocktail) and this is the best cocktail I’ve come up within those parameters.

It’s a good martini, but the smoke feels incongruent. I’ve thought about doing a Oaxacan Old Fashioned with infused Tequila for a more cohesive cocktail with the same color, but I’ve already done a few Old Fashioned riffs and don’t want to be beat a dead horse.

Any suggestions, thoughts, boo’s for the pun?
