Hey all,

Just looking for some advice on this. I’m doing a 4 day sit for a regular client and one of the evenings I’m hoping to go out to dinner with some friends and watch a movie after. Would probably be out for 4ish hours (nothing is finalized yet bc I want to check owner is okay with it).

Basically dogs regular schedule is dinner at 5; evening walk 7/8 and then goes to bed on his own at 8/9.

I usually don’t sleep at owners house as I live a 5 min walk away.

My proposed new schedule just for one day of the sit would be:

- dogs dinner 5pm (usual time)

- 6pm (long) evening walk

- 6:45/7 I leave for dinner

- 10:30/11pm I get back from my plans and take dog out if he needs to go again (he lets me know when he needs to go out)

- I stay at owners house that evening as it’s a later night than usual for me and I want to make sure I’m there to give him his breakfast the next morning at regular scheduled time.

Is this an acceptable ask? Owner is super kind and I think would say it’s totally fine but I don’t want it to come off like I’m not taking care of the dog. I always stick to the schedule and I also would say in my message that if owner isn’t comfortable with this and would rather dog stick to his usual schedule I can rearrange my plans (plans haven’t been booked yet, so realistically fine if she says no but I also don’t want to come off the wrong way you know).

Just trying to gage if this is appropriate:) any insight would be appreciated!!

Hi, I’m fairly new to rover. Done a few sits for one client. However, yesterday I got and accepted a request for a sit tomorrow (no time for a meet & greet). The owner paid and seems a little overly enthusiastic about the sit.

I’m a young female student and doing rover for a little extra money.

Is it weird that this owner has no pet info filled in and no pictures except a pic with a woman and a dog. Initially the owner was quick with replies but then when I asked a question and then followed up by asking them to fill out their profile and add pics they took a long time to respond (didn’t reply until this morning) and essentially just said they’ll fill it out soon. I’m not comfortable going over there without any info or proof that the dog exists and is the same one from the picture - profile still hasn’t been filled out.

I also tried to find the owner online and can’t find her anywhere. I obviously don’t want to screw up my rating by canceling and I don’t want to screw over the owner if it’s legit but I’m just getting anxious about it.

Am I just being paranoid or could this be an unsafe scenario?

EDIT: she also said in her last message that it would be her partner meeting me tomorrow at 8 as she has to go into work early.

EDIT: I’ve had quite a few comments pointing out this is my own fault and I should have done more due diligence before booking. I agree but unfortunately what’s done is done! I’ve heard it enough now and absolutely will ensure I take more precautions in the future! If we could cool it on the criticism it would be nice as I’m just already crashing out enough about this as it is :) like I said, I’m a fairly new sitter through rover and I’m learning. Thanks everyone for all the advice! I really do appreciate it.

UPDATE: I contacted rover support and they just cancelled the booking for me. I feel bad to cancel so last minute if they are legit but I think I’m just too paranoid about this one to continue even if they were to have contacted me and clarified everything later today. LESSON LEARNED! I will not book anything before having all the info and I will defo make sure I do a meet and greet with future clients. Thank you everyone!
