Southern China Itinerary Advice (June/July)

Hi guys,

I’m a 30-year-old solo female traveler based in Hong Kong, planning to explore southern China at the end of June to early July. I’ve got about 2.5 weeks, and I want to stick to high-speed trains (anxious flyer and everything is super expensive right now).

My general plan is to go to Guilin with a few friends, and then they’ll leave while I carry on traveling around solo. I really don’t have any ideas on what to do beyond that… A lot of people say you shouldn’t stay in Guilin too long because there’s not a ton to see, but honestly, I don’t want to rush around trying to cram in loads of spots either. I’d prefer to find some pockets of nice scenery and quietness where I can relax and maybe do some writing.

I’m not too worried about the weather either since I’m used to Hong Kong being hot and rainy. What I’m looking for is more of a chilled trip where I can enjoy nature, good food, and bits of culture without it feeling hectic or super touristy. I’d also like to feel safe and not move around too much.

Do you guys have any recommendations? Thanks in advance!
