I have two dogs and two cats, and one of my dogs (a Newfoundland) just will not leave the cats alone. Whenever they walk into the room she chases and corners them. I don’t think she’s trying to hurt them (because I’m sure she could’ve), but it’s just excessive. One of them handles it pretty well, but the other one is terrified of her, and I feel bad that she has to walk around stealthily in her own home to avoid the dog. We had the cats before we got the Newfie as a puppy, and they coexisted fine with my older dog, a Bernese Mountain Dog. At first I thought she was just an overexcited puppy and this would get better with time, but she’s 2.5 years old now and it doesn’t seem to be improving at all. Otherwise she’s a good dog. Has anyone been in a similar situation and had it improve? Do I need to consider rehoming the dog or the cats? Any advice appreciated!
