Are BCBAs going under??
Sooo I was talking to my boss today about my teaching credential and what not. He made the comment that I’m taking a detour and becoming a teacher instead of a BCBA. I said no I’m still pursuing it, I’m almost finished with my masters and I just need my hours. He gave me a serious look saying I need to seriously look into it.
Look into what?
Long story short he was telling me that there is a slow process happening where insurance companies are trying to push for BCBA to be under the medical something umbrella (forgot what exactly it was called) so that they are considered mental health therapist instead of bcbas and would have to get a new license. According to him it’s because BCBAs and RBTs are too expensive. We have a lot of BCBAs in our company and he said they are closely monitoring the situation.
Has anyone heard about this and do you think there’s some credibility to what he’s saying?
