How am I supposed to replace the anode rod?

Flushed my water heater. Got a bunch of sediment and rocks out. It’s been 7 years since installation so I am sure the rod is degraded. However there is about maybe a 2 foot space above the 5 foot heater. Uninstall to replace anode rod? That seems nuts. Any advice appreciated.
