I work with a kiddo who is non-verbal and in a wheelchair. He's 10, with the mental age of about 4. He's very stubborn and is also extremely spoiled at home. I've taught him many things like the letters in his name. And how to walk in his Walker, and I've done this by waiting him out. It's my job to feed him his lunch. He is fully capable of feeding himself. We have a parkinson's spoon that he uses, but he refuses to do it after 10 minutes of doing it himself. He KNOWS that if he waits long enough, someone will do it for him. This is one of his goals and to be honest, the only one he's currently working on. I've got all the other paras on board and in agreeance that he needs to feed himself, and that he is capable, but he's so incredibly stubborn, did I feel he'll wait all day and he needs to eat.Does anybody have any suggestions? For the past week I have worn his lunch because he throws the spoon at me. I know he will do it because eating is his favorite thing to do lol. I just need him to know that he will be the one to do it.
