Hello! I do apologise in advance, I do not know a lot about cars and wasn't sure if this is the right place to post ! I'm curious to find out if anyone has experienced a similar problem / issue. I have a Mazda CX3 that's just over a year old (Nov 2024)
The transmitter has completely fallen apart and as a result the key inside has gone missing because the plastic back has fallen off. Mazda have said it would cost $664 to source a replacement transmitter and for a new key, which seems excessive! I wouldn't have expected the plastic to completely fall off the sides! I have to carry a pen with me to press the buttons to lock / unlock the car. I couldn't even drive the car yesterday because I have trouble pressing the buttons! Thank goodness, I had found the spare key today.
Mazda mainly said the price is what the price is and they are flimsy, which break apart easily when dropped. It was implied that I had damaged it, although for the transmitter to break down to this level is crazy! I've never owned a car key that has broken in this way before. Apparently they're not covered under warranty. I just wondered if anyone has encountered similar issues with the Mazdas? The price seems excessive to replace a key for a newish car. Thanks heaps!
