First time free handing

Also my first time making a wearable item. I've make some simple amigurumi, a baby blanket, and attempted a cardigan but only produced a square lol. I learned the magic circle for the amigurumi and had this yarn left over from making the baby blanket so I just decided to start messing around. I'm really happy with how it turned out cause I did not count, plan, or calculate anything. It was more or less just experimenting.

I saw someone comment on here that if you increase too much, it gets wrinkley; and if you don't increase enough or decrease it, it begins to curl in on itself. I just used those concepts to make the desired shape.

Had no idea what to do for the edge but decided to turn my work and go the opposite way around two rows of front post hdc. That made a nice sturdy edge that curls back inwards to grip the head nicely.

I'm so proud of this spontaneous creation that I had to share ☺️.
