Cortisone injection in ankle?
Heya, does anyone have any experience with cortisone injections in their ankle? I am considering asking my rheumatologist about getting one, hopefully this week. A couple weeks ago i started a prednisone course for back, neck and toe pain, but while on the course my ankle on the other foot has swollen up and the pain is so agonizing i can hardly walk or move the foot. I called my rheumatologist about it last week and he told me to upper my prednisone dose again and then start tampering down again. The pain in the ankle was tolerable most of the day on 20mg but the second I tapered down to 15mg it came back and the only way to get around is for me to crawl to avoid putting weight on the foot. Its to the point where I don’t notice the back and neck pain anymore because the ankle pain is so much more insufferable. I have had cortisone injections before in my knee and jaw, but was wondering if the ankle is a place they are able to do it? And if so if it is very painful? When i first got diagnosed my biggest problem area was my toes, but the doctor told me its too small of a joint to inject. I really just want the pain to end in my ankle so I can actually walk again. Has anyone else done injections in their ankle?
