Bring Ben home

Wonder who thinks bringing Ben Davies back is a viable option this summer? To me it feels like the right time.

He has had 12 years and close to 400 appearances for Tottenham but played 3 games in the league last season, they have signed Robertson in at left back and signed 2 more centre backs all without European competitions next season.

The transfer fee would be minimal and he would be an outstanding partner to cabango and backup / rotation/ deputy for Tymon.

He left on good terms and is still loved by the swans fans. Anyone think we could swing this?

Thoughts / Review of Kafka on the Shore - Spoilers

** reference to sexual violence **

Pretty mixed feelings whilst reading this book. In large parts I found it quite captivating and really enjoyed the musings of the principle characters Kafka and Nakata. I really enjoyed the mix of mundanity and fantasy. I especially liked Nakata and how drawn Hoshino was to him because of his radiating goodness. I loved the settings and the descriptions of the library, Nakata's perceptions of the world and some of the conversations between Kafka and Oshima.

I found the idea of people's souls being split in two kind of interesting though it didn't always land for me.

I found the latter part of the book frustrating and confusing. Didn't really get what was going on and just found it a bit disappointing. Didn't enjoy the limbo village in the forest interesting or the whole slug coming out of Nakata's mouth vibe either. Finishing the book on a downer makes a big difference to overall perception of the book.

It's funny because I love fantasy generally but I preferred the human relationships in this book to the entrance stone, time-travel forest elements.

Both Murakami books I have read so far (Norweigan wood and this) have had child sexual abuse in his books and in both cases there is no mention of the immorality of the statutory rape of the child and it is hugely romanticised. Also the scene where Kafka rapes Sakura (who may or may not be his sister) in his dream was gratuitous and unnecessary I don't know what that did for the story?

Overall I enjoyed though.

Kumano Kodo Nakahechi Route - Takijiri Oji to Kumano-Nachi Grand Shrine - 3 days - is this doable?

Hello everyone,

Just wanting some advice. I am intending to do Kumano Kodo Nakahechi Route in September with my girlfriend. One important part is she is planning to join me for 1 day of walking and then head back to Shirahama to relax until I join her. I am more of a walking enthusiast, especially mountains than her.

I know 70km is a lot for 3 days. I am pretty experienced walking, running, trekking and feel comfortable to do up to 30km per day.

I would like to do this in 3 days rough idea is:

Day 1 - 16km Ish - Sleep in Tanabe night before. Morning bus to Takijiri-Oji and then 13k walk to Tsugizakura-Oji

Day 2 - 25km From Tsugizakura-Oji to Ukagawa

Day 3 - 27km - Ukagawa to Kumano Hayatama Taisha

Is this too much? Any better ideas
