Motorola Edge 70 motherboard heating + fingerprint stopped working after only 18 days – service center says motherboard replacement needed

I bought a new Motorola Edge 70 on 21 July 2026. Today, it has been only 18 days (16 days with me + 2 days at service center), and I’m already facing what appears to be a major hardware issue.

The phone started getting abnormally hot, particularly around the motherboard area. At the same time, the fingerprint option stopped working/disappeared.

I took the phone to an authorized Motorola service center. They initially suspected a software/firmware issue, so they downgraded the software and then updated the software/firmware again. Unfortunately, the problem was still exactly the same after all of this.

After the software troubleshooting failed, the service center told me that the motherboard needs to be replaced.

This is quite disappointing because the phone is only 18 days old. I understand that the seller may have a 7-day replacement policy, but this is clearly not a normal software problem, and an authorized service center has apparently verified a hardware/motherboard issue.

I have the purchase invoice and service-center job sheet/documentation.

My concern is: Would you accept a motherboard replacement on a phone that is less than 3 weeks old, or would you push Motorola for a complete device replacement?

Has anyone else with a Motorola Edge 70 experienced:

  • Abnormal heating around the motherboard
  • Fingerprint option disappearing/stopping completely
  • Motherboard replacement being recommended shortly after purchase

So please replace my device in place of repair.
