Advice

I have lumbar stenosis with some nerve damage I also have 2 fractures in my spine. My legs are pretty weak. I am also unstable when I walk like I could fall any moment. Climbing up and down stairs are not easy for me. When I climb up stairs, I have to grab the railing sometimes with both of my hands on a bad day and pull myself up. I am scheduled for surgery the first week of August. I have two large breed dogs and last week our sliding back door broke so I can't get it open anymore. Our backyard is gated so when the back door opens, I can just let my dogs run no issues. But since it broke, I have been getting my dad to take them out. But over the fourth of July weekend my dad is leaving town so if our door is not fixed my then it is on me to take them out. I attempted to take one of them out the day our door broke but it is physically impossible to climb up and down the stairs to my house with a dog in tow especially since they not listening once we are outside and they pull. Honestly, I am scared to try to climb down the stairs will a dog again, I don't want to get pulled down the stairs. Do anyone have any advice how to safely take dogs outside with this condition?

Spinal Stenosis Stories

I Saw my surgeon last week after many conservative treatments failing. He told me I have two par fractures, my disk slipped, I have severe spinal stenosis on both sides, and I have nerve damage. He suggested that I do surgery since everything failed and I can't live with it. The surgery he said we will do involves cutting the disk that slipped, put in a cage and a couple screws. I forget the what the procedure was called. I need to wait the call for the surgery to get scheduled. I would like to hear any stories anyone has regarding this condition or about the surgery

How bad is it

I’ve been diagnosed since September. I have been seeing a lot of doctors and tried a lot of different things mainly medication and injections. They honestly don’t seem to be in a hurry to find a way to help me. The pain have been seemingly getting worse and I already have weakness and numbness is my legs. This morning woke up with a back cramp or back spasm that is so painful that I can’t walk or move at all without a lot of tears and screams. This doesn’t seem good right?

26 F I have lumbar spinal stenosis and the pain is pretty constant. I have quite a bit of weakness in my legs as well as balance issues. I also have instances where it is hard to even to lift up my foot to walk. I have been physically and mentally exhausted from all this so I have been spending my days off just sleeping. My family are not willing to help me move around or to little things that are hard for me. At my house we have a fire pit that burn boxes but it’s at the bottom of our back yard down like 20 steps it’s hard for me to climb up or down 2 steps when I am not carrying anything. I asked my dad to help take some boxes downstairs since I can’t walk that far or do stairs. Needless to say he refused since he thinks it is a pretty simple task and I am being lazy. So my question is how is everyone handling the disability that comes with the condition? I also have to cook for myself and on my bad days that come way too often make getting up to cook feel impossible so any tips to how you navigate the kitchen would help.
