Re-thinking my investment strategy
hey i am 23M and i started investing a couple month ago when I realized i had around 40k usd in my bank account. I am from a country where military service is mandatory so I didnt really work until i was nearing 22 and now I am majoring in software engineering.
currently my investment portfolio stand around 30k USD.
My investment strategy was mainly index investing(a combination of vwra and nasdaq 100) and I allocate 10% for specific companies i believe have growth potential(AMD and MU for example).
i am having success with that 10%(It feels slightly like i am gambling but with information to base my gamble on something) and seeing so many companies explode in growth because of AI that i cant help but feel like i am leaving so much potential on the table by not having a more focused investing approach, it feels like over the last couple of months it's harder to find a tech(mainly AI related) stock that loses then to find one that goes up by 10's of percentages in a pretty short amount of time(I know i am exaggerating).
I am also aware that that the idea of trying to "beat the market" over the long run is very unlikely even for the majority of professional investors with entire teams and the best tools, but i cant help but feel like for the nearing year or two a more focused investing strategy would outperform index investing(I know that an AI bubble is theorised to burst eventually, I would also love to hear more opinions on that).
I am pretty conservative by nature and i like the base my actions on logic rather then what just feels right so i probably wont change anything but i am still pretty new to this world so i would love to hear more of your personal opinions on the matter
