Fellowship opportunity

Hi all,

I’m thinking of leaving my current (first job as an NP) role as a visiting PCP (AL/IL/memory care) to pursue a fellowship opportunity in neurosurgery. I’ve been in my current job for 6 months and it just isn’t what I want. The layout for the fellowship is as follows:

- $75k salary for the first 8mo, prorated to 8mo (so not a full 75k)
- then 115k salary equivalent for the remaining 4 months of the year AND a guaranteed job on their NSGY consult service
- ~40h a week, with mostly 12h shifts, 3-5 nights per month, and one weekend per month
- $2500 CME stipend and 5 “CME days”
- 20d PTO once I become a full employee at 8 months
- possible help getting my RNFA (required at the 8 months point - but hasn’t been confirmed yet)

My question to you all is, does this sound like a good way to get my foot into a specialty service? I have some RN background as a neurosurgery nurse/charge nurse (2 years). Would you ask for anything else during the interview stage?

For reference, I currently make ~90k but it’s RVU based and I don’t like that I have to see higher volumes of patients to make more money because I feel it impacts quality of care.
