A list of things I analyzed through the subreddit(I may be wrong)

Stolen and Uncredited Art: Users are downloading artwork from platforms like Telegram and VK and reposting it solely to farm upvotes, pushing down original content a lot (though this isn’t the main issue)

Low-Effort Spam: The front page has been inundated with repetitive, unoriginal question posts and basic, low-quality meme spam.

Active User Burnout: Veteran fans and original artists are expressing frustration on threads like I might leave the subreddit. Many note that the active core has dwindled to only about 15-20 truly dedicated members.

The "Cool™" Commenting Trend: High-quality discussions have been largely replaced by repetitive comment memes. A trend of users replying to almost every post with variations of "Cool™" has discouraged members looking for genuine community interaction.

Collapse of the Leaderboard Wars: The subreddit used to feature highly competitive "leaderboard wars" where top commentators and posters raced for high karma requirements (e.g., 1k+ for commenters). Original comic creators and meme-makers abandoned the competition once the meta shifted to effortless reposting.

Stagnant "Discussion Posting" Meta: Because creating original fan art requires a large amount of time and effort, the few active members left have heavily leaned into low-effort discussion questions. This has resulted in a repetitive front page dominated by the same circular lore questions about characters like levy and Mephistupid.

Language and Platform Barriers: Because r/gerand is an unofficial, English-speaking hub for a Russian indie series, the community naturally struggles to pull fresh content directly from the creator. This makes it incredibly easy for bad actors to raid Russian platforms like Telegram and VK, dumping content onto Reddit where unsuspecting English fans upvote it.
