Restoring a old coal Forge
This is a forge. I’ve been working on for a few months whenever I have free time from school and I finally finished it about two weeks ago and I’ve been using it to learn how to forge.
For people who are interested it is a buffalo Forge from the late 1800s to no sooner than 1920 it is a hybrid powered semi portable shop or farmstead forge, which means that it stay in it’s original configuration as a hand cranked forge or easily be converted to work with a line drive system. At least this is what I could gather about it.
For the restoring part, I made a new leather belt for it which was new me since I’ve never worked with leather. Also, I took it apart and cleaned and applied new grease. I also built up a fire pot with castable factory cement which I’ve never worked with, so hopefully it will last a while.
