How are small accounting firms landing bookkeeping clients in 2026?
My business partners and I own a small accounting firm.
On my side, the accounting, NetSuite administration, and NetSuite consulting work has been booming. We haven’t had much trouble finding work in those areas.
The challenge has been growing the bookkeeping side of the business. My business partner is focused on bookkeeping, and we’d like to add at least 3 recurring bookkeeping clients in the near future.
We’ve done the usual:
LinkedIn outreach/Sales Navigator
Networking
Asking for referrals
Direct outreach to businesses
We even got so far down the road with a marketing company that we were seriously considering spending almost $25,000 just for bookkeeping lead generation. We ultimately decided not to move forward because that’s a lot of money without a guaranteed return.
So I’m curious what other accountants and firm owners are actually doing.
If you had to go get 3 bookkeeping clients in the next 60–90 days, where would you spend your time?
Referrals?
LinkedIn?
Google Business Profile?
Chamber events?
Industry niches?
Strategic partnerships?
I’m not looking for generic marketing advice. I’m looking for real-world experience from people who have successfully grown the bookkeeping side of their firm.
What has actually worked for you?
Thanks in advance.
