I'm Pissed
History: Got phone in summer of 2022. Phone developed a fault at the beginning of last year. The top left of the screen, directly adjacent the camera, was solid white light. Looked online, advice was to switch off adaptive 120Hz. Did it and I had my phone back.
Fast forward to early March of this year and I wake up, turn on my phone, and it's back. Not only is the bar of light back, but half the screen has become desaturated. Looked online, Samsung Repair said do a factory reset. Did it. Nothing changed. Send in for repair. Out of warranty and they want £177.59 for a screen replacement.
Now, I don't know about the rest of you, but when I pay £1000+ for something, I expect it to last for more than four f'ing years! And if it does break, IDGAF if it is out of warranty, your component failed, you pay for the repair.
Just got off the phone with Samsung Support (0333 000 0333) and they say there's nothing they can do because it is out of warranty. It's one of THEIR repair centres. Basically just said pay it or don't and washed their hands of it.
I wouldn't hesitate to pay if I had broken the phone myself, but that phone was f'ing flawless. Always had a case and always had a screen protector. This is a - from what I could gather in their own damned forums - a known issue with a component and has affected many others. How is that legal? £1000+ and failing after four years? Disgraceful.
Does anyone know of any other route to getting them to do the right thing?
TL;DR: Component failure, out of warranty, Samsung want to charge me for repairs, I disagree. Help?
