School Psych vs School Social Work
Im applying to grad school this fall and I find myself contemplating a masters in school psychology vs school social work. I’m really interested in the assessment and report writing part as a school psych but I also enjoy direct interactions and counseling aspect with students. I’m just worried as a school psych all you do is testing won’t have time for counseling students. I’m also interested in other school related topics such as navigating school with anxiety, depression, interventions for bullying or behavior support. I really enjoy the IEP educational goals which is why i’m interested in both these roles.
Can you give some insight in both of these roles and do school psychs provide counseling/interventions?
