Earth ponies should not have to carry things like this.
Pinkie having to balance a platter on her head while trotting on 3 hooves seems cruel. Twilight even notices this and effortlessly take both off her from across the room.
Earth ponies have baskets that they can hold in their teeth or over their back, so this was only done so that Cadance would have a pretty looking platter to eat from.
It is no wonder that both Pinkie and Applejack do not like high society fancy stuff.
