I don't understand the logic behind "Take less from Super Effective" abilities
I wanna discuss the abilities that make the Pokemon take less damage when hit by a super effective move.
To my understanding, what these abilities do when used by a player is to, basically, let you tank more damage when you stay in on a move that you shouldn't have stayed in on.
When an enemy has one of these abilities, it means that your Pokemon that should be a perfect counter for the enemy is suddenly no longer a perfect counter, because any arbitrary move will do pretty much the same amount of damage and your type advantage is a lot less meaningful now.
So what I'm saying is that these abilities basically flatten the type chart and take away some of the species' personality. They make your Pokemon just a blank slate which is kinda OK in every situation. This feels anti-strategy to me, and personally, the thrill of strategy is why I keep playing Pokemon.
I must also add that I think Aurorus' gimmick is very funny, but that's because it's Aurorus' personal gimmick, not when someone has one of these abilities on every corner.
Also also, I feel like the new Mega Staraptor's ability "Feathercoat" would be a huge step in the right direction, if only it wasn't so weak. In its current form, it is just an inferior Shell Armor in every way.
So, what do you all think?
