Help with bypassing internet whitelisting on a router in Russia 😇
Hello everyone,
I have a GL.iNet GL-MT3000 (Beryl AX) router and I’m trying to set up a VPN on the router itself to bypass strict internet whitelisting.
My internet comes through a MikroTik LTE setup (4G), and unfortunately the provider very often enables whitelist-only access, which basically cuts off almost all devices from the internet. Installing a VPN separately on every device is extremely inconvenient, so I wanted to solve this at the router level.
The main problem is that services like Happ and similar apps only work through their own mobile applications. OpenWRT/OpenClash/sing-box/PassWall usually cannot properly read or use their encrypted config links.
I also tried setting up my own Xray/VLESS/Reality server on a VPS, but it seems useless in my situation because the traffic only works if the IP/domain somehow matches something allowed by the whitelist, which is almost impossible to achieve manually.
Has anyone made progress with this kind of setup specifically for routers? Maybe:
OpenClash
Mihomo
sing-box
Trojan
Hysteria2
custom JSON subscriptions
DPI bypass tricks
domain fronting
CDN routing
Anything that actually works reliably on OpenWRT/GL.iNet routers under heavy whitelist restrictions?
Sorry if this sounds like a stupid question, I’m just really tired of fighting with this setup 🥲
Thanks in advance.
