Hi All,

I'm looking to break into embedded systems, with the eventual goal of working in the automotive/EV space, though I'm open to starting my career at defense companies. I'm currently in the DMV (DC Maryland Virginia) area and am willing to relocate anywhere as I'm applying broadly and not avoiding any regions.

Right now I work five days a week in office, and I'm happy to continue with that or move to a hybrid setup. I'm trying to avoid fully remote roles so I can build up a professional network. My current role is in software engineering using a Java/Spring Boot stack, and while the project is well-funded, has good scope, and has taught me a lot, I don't feel challenged and I'm not learning what I actually want to. I have a B.S. in computer engineering and I'd like to target roles that draw on what I studied.

I'd appreciate feedback on whether my resume is strong enough for an entry-level candidate, and whether having professional experience solely in web development is hurting my chances at embedded systems roles. To compensate for that gap, I've been working on personal projects involving microcontrollers so I have something relevant to talk about in interviews. Lastly, I'm a U.S. citizen, so I'm able to obtain a security clearance if needed.

Thanks in advance for your feedback and guidance!
