What are people expecting when they assign a cite check?
When you're assigned a cite check, what does the finished work product usually look like? Track changes/comments in Word? Comments in red? A separate chart? Something else?
I asked the associate I'm working with, and the answer was basically, "As long as it's clear, I'm fine with it." I'm curious what people generally expect in practice. I've done cite checks as a secondary journal editor, but we had a super specific journal format.
I know I'm probably overthinking this, but I'm just trying to do a good job as a nervous summer. Trying to not reinvent the wheel or make something that confuses the supervising associate.
