Repost & Full/New version of my Sun and Moon/Eclipse piece (with closeup headshots and the references)
Coming back to post the full piece because apparently even if I crop literally 80% of it and only include headshots, people will still complain about art they haven't seen. So I would rather double down and post the (somewhat) full thing.
Also fixed some of the mistakes that were glaring at me 2 seconds after posting.
If you had an issue with the god-forbidden sight of shoulders, you can take your complaint up with the photographer/editor for the Metal Galaxy covers, who did it before me and was the direct inspiration for this.
I took the liberty of covering basically everything up with a Legend MM inspired fire/stardust cloud because it just so happened to really fit the piece. The no cloud version exists online for those who want to look at shalla-bal silver surfer if she were blue or orange. There's nothing explicit about it, and if you choose to go find it, that's your own prerogative.
Either way, I decided to draw it like this for the sake of artistry and capturing a sense of energy at its purest form, and I don't care if you don't like it lol. I'll draw what I want. If you think there are ulterior/dirty motives or it's some form of disrespect, there aren't and it ain't, so you can keep those thoughts to yourself because I didn't ask for your projection.
Anyways, again, this is inspired by the sun and moon/eclipse imagery BM had for a couple years from Dark Side up to Legend MM I think. Not the biggest lorehead (i've never seen a lore enjoyer for BM in my life), but I really liked the theming of dualism and opposites attracting during the Sumoa era. Singer and Dancer. Yin and Yang. Sun and Moon. Light and Darkness. Good and Bad. Not at odds, but in an eternal dance of harmony. The addition of Momoko being represented as the sunrise/sunset >!kiss!< or fusion of the sun and moon is just about the only clever thing BM has done lore wise in the past 10 years. I just think it's neat.
I'm not used to drawing human anatomy with "off" colors, so it was a fun experience and actually a lot easier since I didn't have to worry about tones. I'm quite proud of this piece. You can also probably tell which areas I used references and which ones I just winged it and said "good enough" lol. Figuring out how to draw the clasped hands was annoying because I use my own hands as my reference, and I don't have a third hand to hold the phone for that.
I also couldn't find any good clear pictures of Moa in the angle I wanted, so it doesn't fully look like her. Sorry Moa.
