I live on an island in the PNW, Im not often able to go out on a boat with my buddies who have them, So I do a decent amount of shore fishing.

There’s a spot near my house which is a large breakwater into open ocean, it extends probably almost 2-300 feet, also a small harbour on the inner side I will share a photo so you can see

I’ve tried buzzbombs but get a lot of snags so the last few times I’ve been using a drop shot with maybe 4-6 ounces, about 1.5-3 feet up I’ll use a leader with a 2/0 single hook and some herring. I figured this would be a great rig for rockfish and Lingcod , but been having a lot of trouble getting bites or catching anything out there.

Maybe I’m casting in the wrong spots, maybe I’m using too small or too large pieces of bait, maybe I should try squid or shrimp.. really not sure, any suggestions ?
