[MI] Libel risk for posting on Reddit/online about a landlord’s practices
I wanted to check on the risk of libel for posting online about a landlord’s conduct at a specific property. Things like exaggerating damages, and lying about the state on occupation of a property to keep the deposit. I’ve already gone to small claims and lost because anything that wasn’t pictured/documented on the start of occupation as pristine was then listed as damaged/requiring repairs by a contractor and exceeded what I would’ve gotten with a deposit. This is unrelated to the law as well but they also attempted to raise my rent by $800/month when asked about going month to month, and then they became antagonistic after not renewing the lease. I would hope to prevent any future renters from going through that but don’t know if there were specifics about conduct, exaggerating damages, or characterization that would cause trouble. I would have text messages/emails that would back this up.
