I'm attending a conference at the Izmir University Of Economics at the end of June. The organisers aren't based in Turkey, and they haven't given much travel information, and I'm not sure where to stay.

It seems like the university is quite far from the city centre. I'd like to see the sights, but I'll also need to be able to get to the university quickly for the conference.

Can anyone recommend somewhere to stay? I don't mind relying on public transport to get to and from the conference, as long as it's not too long of a trip. I was considering staying in Balçova and checking out the baths, but it would still be a 1 or 2 km walk to the university, possibly with steep hills. So I'm not sure what to do!

Any tips would be much appreciated!
