Anything to watch out for apart from checking regular servicing history and the dsg and haldex services on time?

Model years to avoid - is it a bad idea getting one for a dad wagon?

What else should I consider. Want something with space, tow bar, fun to drive, comfy, not too expensive to service and maintain provided it's done on time.
