Aoostar Maco 6850H - ASM-1166 SATA adapter doesn't work in 1 of 3 M.2 ports
I got an Aoostar Maco 6850H to use as a Proxmox host and got an ASM-1166 M.2 (PCIe) to SATA adapter (6 port) to add HDDs for a TrueNAS VM. The Maco is equipped with 3 PCIe 4.0 x4 M.2 ports so the SATA adapter should work in all 3 of the M.2 ports. The problem is that when I use the SATA adapter in slot 1 or 3, see 1st picture, the leds under each sata port lights up, see 2nd picture, and the port which i have an HDD plugged into, after the boot up flashes, lights up alone and then turns off (pretty sure this is activity leds for the SATA ports). After this both the SATA adapter and HDD is visible (lspci) and I'm able to pass-through into VMs in Proxmox. But when I put the SATA adapter in slot 2, see 1st picture, all leds flashes up as it did in slot 1 and 3 but the led specifically for the SATA port with the plugged HDD doesn't flash like it does when the adapter is plugged into slot 1 or 3 and the SATA adapter is not visible in Proxmox (lspci). My instinct told me that the M.2 port might be broken or that it's not a PCIe port, maybe a SATA M.2 but I double checked the specs and it says 3 PCIe ports. I also put the boot NVMe ssd into slot 2 and it boots up as normal, so the port is not "broken". So I'm wondering if this is some kind of hardware fault or if there is some setting in bios that i might have to enable? Or maybe this is some kind of hardware limitation? Maybe something I need to do in Proxmox?
