As a Long-Time Spender, I’m Starting to Feel Disconnected

Hey everyone, I know people are probably tired of seeing complaint posts, so I’ll try to keep this short.

I’ve been a long-time spender on the game. I regularly buy Welkin, Battle Pass, and top-up packs. I’m not someone asking for endless free wishes or trying to hate on the game for no reason. I’ve spent money because I genuinely believed Genshin was worth investing in.

But lately, I’ve completely lost the motivation to keep spending time or money on it.

After building some of the current premium lunar geo and lunar electro, I can clear endgame content pretty comfortably — unless the content is heavily designed around Varka or Nefer. There are only a few characters I skipped because I simply didn’t connect with their design or gameplay, and sometimes it feels like the game punishes you for not following the exact meta direction it wants.

What really pushed me over the edge was the Chronicled Wish banner. I lost my Fate Point twice while trying to get Clorinde and her weapon. Spending extra money just to avoid losing progress before the banner disappeared felt awful. It made me realize how aggressively the system pressures players through FOMO.

After that, I decided to try Honkai: Star Rail. I’m not trying to turn this into a “Genshin vs HSR” post, but experiencing another HoYoverse game honestly made me feel worse about Genshin’s direction.

In HSR, endgame content feels more replayable and engaging. Older and even standard banner characters can still perform well in difficult content. I can invest in characters I personally like without constantly feeling pressured to chase the newest release just to keep up.

More importantly, spending money there feels like it has lasting value.

In Genshin, I’ve reached a point where even if I spend heavily on a character, I’m not confident they’ll stay relevant or enjoyable long term. That feeling makes it much harder to justify investing further.

The recent update kind of reinforced that feeling for me. The weapon skin announcement instead of meaningful system improvements or player-focused changes just made me feel disconnected from the game’s priorities.

I still enjoy parts of Genshin, and I’m not quitting dramatically or anything like that. I pulled Nicole since I already had guarantee, but for the first time in years I skipped buying the Battle Pass, and I don’t plan on spending more money unless the game starts feeling rewarding to invest in again.

That’s really all it comes down to for me: wanting to feel like my time and money are valued.

(And this comes from a Dolphin/Whale, i cant even imagine what F2P feel...)

Thanks for reading, and i hope this is taken as constructive and not hate.

Edit: Eyo, apparently HSR is worst with power creep. I prolly have not experienced yet cause im new so maybe ignore that. Regarless i think it just amplified my perception of what genshin is lacking and my overal burnt out of the game (gameplay only tho, cause art, music and lore im still invested)

Last edit: Please ignore for a second what i said about HSR. main takeaway: My perception of it as a new player is what makes it feel fresh and worth investing on. Which is to say, i dont feel that for genshin currently and that is the main issue.
